Durham’s Fullsteam Brewery to anchor RTP shipping container complex
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—August 27, 2019—The Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina (RTF), the not-for-profit economic development organization that manages Research Triangle Park, today announced the anchor tenant of its Boxyard RTP development: Durham-based Fullsteam Brewery.
“We love the Fullsteam story,” says Scott Levitan, President and CEO of RTF. “They are embracing North Carolina’s agricultural history while innovating within the craft brewing scene, which makes them a perfect fit to anchor a project as unique as Boxyard RTP.”
Established in 2010, Fullsteam refers to themselves as ‘plow-to-pint,’ and takes pride in using local ingredients from North Carolina farmers and foragers.
“I’m thrilled that Fullsteam has an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Research Triangle Park’s evolution,” says Sean Lilly Wilson, Owner and Chief Optimist of Fullsteam. “We hope to foster community, showcase the region’s agricultural and industrial roots, and serve as an anchor for a truly creative retail project.”
The announcement came at the conclusion of a ground breaking ceremony held today at the Boxyard site on Park Offices Drive in RTP. In addition to Levitan and Wilson, remarks in support of the project were made by Smedes York, RTF Board Chair; Casey Stowe, founder of Boxyard Tulsa; and Wendy Jacobs, Chair of the Durham County Board of Commissioners. Officials from Durham and Wake Counties, as well as members of the RTF Board of Directors, local transit authorities and chambers of commerce, were also present.
Maverick Partners represented Boxyard RTP in the transaction, and is actively recruiting additional tenants. The 15,000 square foot development is currently 50% pre-leased. Project manager Amanda Ronan confirms that more tenants, including a coffee vendor, wine bar, and healthy food option, are slated to be announced in the coming weeks.
