The old way of breaking for lunch in RTP may have looked something like this: 12 o’clock hits and you need to make a mad dash to the nearest fast food joint only to then turn right around and eat at your desk alone or in the office breakroom. Let’s change that.
As we head back to work, whatever that may look like, let’s rethink how we use our lunch hour. Every Thursday from 12pm to 2pm Boxyard RTP will have a live acoustic singer-songwriter on the BeatBox stage. The artist(s) and genre will change each week, but the intent will stay the same. Try ordering some food ahead of time, enjoying the fresh air, and giving yourself the time (and permission) to recharge during this well-deserved break in the day.
Our musical performances happen rain or shine under our covered Pavilion on the BeatBox stage. In the event of extreme weather, such as flooding, ice or lightning, performances will be canceled. Follow us on Instagram for updates on time changes or cancelations.
This Week’s Performer: Tae Lewis
Country singer/songwriter Tae Lewis does not sell short when it comes to his creation of music. The North Carolina native started singing in the church but deep inside country music was his first love. With his father being a Pastor and his mother a teacher, he was captivated by country music through his neighborhood friends and family listening to groups such as Vince Gill, Hunter Hayes & Dixie Chicks. At the age of 16 he explained to his family he wanted pursue country music. Although they were not ok with the idea, he was persistent and put his roots down into the genre. Tae was named in Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2022. His hit song “Good Luvin” made a TV debut on the highly acclaimed television show “Shameless”.
