Songstories Live is an intimate gathering of artists and listeners. Come out to Boxyard RTP’s edgy and spacious Pavilion and tune in to three singer-songwriters who will share original songs and the stories behind them. It’s going to be an inspiring night.

The show starts at 5:30 p.m. free to walk-in.

This month’s lineup:

Lynda Dawson

Lynda Dawson’s Americana songs capture an audience’s heart straight from the start. She was a mainstay of the Kickin Grass Band for over a decade, winning the Guitar Center’s Best Band In Raleigh contest, a Carolina Music Award for Americana/Bluegrass, and she was honored with an IBMA award for The Barber’s Fiddle, a Bluegrass hit she co-wrote with Becky Buller. She’s been described by PopMatters as writing “distinctive originals…with an ear for a catchy melody as well as interesting turns of phrase,” and by Nashville Public Radio as a “truly gifted songwriter who writes intelligently crafted lyrics married to unforgettable melodies.”

John Sierra

John Sierra writes songs for the restless and the searching. An Americana Singer-Soongwriter with spiritual roots, his sound pulls from the rawness of Mumford & Sons, energy of The Killers, soul of the Lone Bellow, and the wonder of C.S. Lewis. A founding member of Attalus (Facedown Records), his guitar work helped Into the Sea break onto Billboard’s Top 40. He’s stood on stages alongside acts like Switchfoot and Anberlin, channeling the longing we all feel in this life, into story and melody.

A Grammy Voting Member and TN Songwriter Week semi-finalist, John’s music is for anyone who’s searching for something more. Listen at johnsierramusic.com.

Brooke Hatala

Brooke Hatala is a rising country/rock artist living in Nashville, TN. Originally hailing from Raleigh, NC, she is known for her distinctive raspy tone, which has been compared to Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks. Brooke started playing guitar at age 12 and wrote her first song when she was just 14. At age 15 she was a contestant on The Voice, where she earned a blind audition as one of the youngest contestants in the history of the show. She soon caught the attention of music industry professionals in Nashville and began writing and recording with some of the top names in the industry.

In 2021 Brooke was selected to be part of ASCAP’s prestigious GPS program (following Lainey Wilson, Hannah Dasher, Anna Vaus & others), where she was introduced to music publishers as one of ASCAP’s best up-and-coming songwriters. Brooke has opened for Keith Urban, Willie Nelson, Rascal Flats, Sixpence None The Richer and many others, and performs over 80 shows a year.
