SoapBox is a recurring event at Boxyard RTP that features different art forms. Watch along as performers from the realms of comedy, spoken word, storytelling and beyond get up on their SoapBox.

The Lineup: 

Isatu Kamara

Isatu is a known favorite in the triangle comedy scene. She is a regular at Goodnights comedy club and Raleigh Improv. Here style consists of funny stories, character work and satire.

RJ Jurgensen

RJ Jurgensen is a comedian from Orange County, CA, who relocated to Raleigh in 2016. He’s opened and featured for Andrew Dice Clay, Iliza Schlesinger, Tom Segura, Jeff Garcia, Tommy Davidson, Pauly Shore, and many more.

Vishy Makthal

Vishy Makthal is a comedian from Raleigh, NC. He was raised in both the USA and India. As a result, his standup offers humor that uniquely dissects the zeitgeist. He has performed around the Triangle, New York, DC, Chicago, as well as in India. He is also kind of tall.

Queen Aaliyah

All the way from Raleigh North Carolina by way of Chicago she toured with Rodney Perry, Earthquake the mayor of Rap City Chris Thomas. her comedy special on Amazon Prime Aaliyah Ford going crazy. Her comedy plays on Pandora. She is in the movie Messy and kiss the sky. She is the Queen of Carolinas Comedy QueenAaliyah.

Headliner : E.J. Masicampo

E.J. Masicampo is a psychologist turned comedian from Winston-Salem, NC. His credits include the Vail Comedy Festival, the NC Comedy Festival, and being an okay dad. He co-hosts the monthly Roar Shock Comedy Showcase, is a regular at the Idiot Box Comedy Club, and is a two-time Ultimate Comic Challenge finalist.

– Boxyard RTP is an open-air facility that will continue to follow in accordance with all Covid-19 regulations put in place by Durham County. Masks are optional at Boxyard, but individual vendor policies may vary. We recommend bringing a mask with you. Stay kind to those who choose to still wear one.
– In addition to regular cleanings, hand sanitizer stations are provided throughout our facility.
– Our tables are spaced out, so you do not feel right on top of your neighbor.
