SoapBox is a recurring event at Boxyard RTP that features different art forms. Watch along as performers from the realms of comedy, spoken word, storytelling and beyond get up on their SoapBox.
The Lineup:
After interviewing comedians for 7 years, Tony Castleberry started doing stand-up in 2018. He has thus far opened for Big Jay Oakerson, Ted Alexandro, Blair Socci. Tony’s style is personal, observational, and absurd. Born and raised in North Carolina, despite living all over the US for many years, he sadly still has a strong southern accent.
Victoria Quiett has been doing comedy for 4 years now and is originally from Durham, NC. She loves making people laugh and sharing her silly thoughts with others. She has performed across the triangle area. She is starting a podcast (classic) with her best friend.
Matt Dameron was a “Viner” with 98,000 followers, doing sketch comedy and collaborating with some of the biggest names in social media e.g. Marlon Webb and Arron Crascall. He has been featured on the GhostCodes App as “social media comedians you need to follow.”
He produces and hosts two monthly showcases Brewmasters (Wilson) and Brewmasters (Goldsboro) which are the largest attended comedy showcases not in a comedy club in NC! He was also a semifinalist in the 2019 NC’s Funniest Competition at Goodnights Comedy Club. Matt has also performed with comedians such as Mark Normand and Chris Porter.
Tori Chaffee is a Greensboro based comedian. They have performed all over NC and NYC at The Idiot Box, Goodnights Comedy, and the Pit NYC. They were a finalist on the Ultimate Comic Challenge 2018 and opened for Todd Barry at the NC Comedy Festival. When they are not performing comedy, you can find them in the sewers foraging for rings and coins.
Mello returns to Soapbox after destroying the audience on show#1. We listened to popular demand and asked him to make another trip to Durham on April 9th. Mello is a veteran comic from North Carolina with a smooth delivery that grips the audience’s attention. His unique style and ability to connect with all types of humor has allowed him to work with comedians like Tracy Morgan, Russel Peter, Dave Chapple, Ralphie May and D.L Hughley. You don’t want to miss out!

– Boxyard RTP is an open-air facility that will be following in accordance with all Covid-19 regulations put in place by Durham County.
– In addition to regular cleanings, complimentary hand sanitizer and wipe stations are provided throughout our facility.
– The performers will be positioned a safe distance away from the general public on the BeatBox stage.
