Today’s Performer: DJ Proto J (Joseph Sky)

Joseph Sky, an American Indian of the Tuscarora Tribe of North Carolina, began DJing in 1996 and became formally known as DJ Proto J. As one of the very first vinyl Turntablists in North Carolina, he won “Da Skillz,” a highly accredited DJ battle, defeating over 20 top DJs on the East Coast in 2000. That same year, he formed The Architechs, a Turntablist DJ band with Carolina legend DJ Merlin, 3-Eyes, and D-Tox, one of the first of its kind.
