Take advantage of this rare opportunity to take part in a poetry workshop led by Mimi Herman and John Yewell of Writeaways, the renowned international workshop/retreat headquartered right here in the Triangle. Mimi & John have been helping people become better writers for over ten years, with programs in France, Italy, Ireland, New Mexico and North Carolina.
Each poet will receive expert feedback from the instructors, as well as other participants, on 1-2 original poems. Poets will have time to revise and return to the space to share the results.
Note: This event takes place at 700 Park Offices Drive, across the parking lot from Boxyard RTP. Go inside the uphill front door and down into the conversation pit from the lobby.
About the facilitators:

John Yewell and Mimi Herman are the directors of Writeaways LLC, which provides weeklong writing workshop-retreats at a chateau in France, a villa in Italy, a manor house in Ireland, an elegant adobe in New Mexico and an historic Georgian mansion in North Carolina. John is a writer and editor with an MFA in Fiction and 20 years of experience in journalism. Through his brilliant eye for plot and ear for dialogue, John has mastered the art of helping other writers discover their own stories. Mimi writes fiction and poetry and is the author of The Kudzu Queen, selected by NC Humanities for the 2023 Library of Congress “Great Reads from Great Places” program, longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and shortlisted for the Cabell First Novelist Award. She is a Kennedy Center Teaching Artist, a Warren Wilson MFA alumna, and a Hermitage Artist Retreat Fellow.
