Does anyone else miss the excitement of travel and exposure to cultures not easily found in North Carolina? “Think globally, dance locally” is our new motto, so we’re hosting an eclectic line-up of musicians for “Hear and There,” your passport to celebrate the sounds of the world.
Stop by at lunchtime on Wednesdays to hear international instruments and grooves on the BeatBox stage.
This Week’s Performer: DJ Ras J
With over 25 years on the decks opening for the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, the Wailers, and Black Uhuru, DJ Ras J explores the boundaries and connections of vintage music from around the globe. Known for his incredibly diverse vinyl sessions at the bi-annual Shakori Grassroots Festival, expect a heavy helping of rare Jamaican 45s, afrobeat, cumbia, salsa, bossa nova, and dub reggae with one goal in mind: to uplift & unite people with the power of music.
Covid Precautions:
– Boxyard RTP is an open-air facility that will continue to follow all Covid-19 regulations put in place by Durham County. Masks are optional at Boxyard, but individual vendor policies may vary. We recommend bringing a mask with you. Stay kind to those who choose to wear one still.
– In addition to regular cleanings, hand sanitizer stations are provided throughout our facility.
– Our tables are spaced out, so you do not feel right on top of your neighbor.
