🚨 COMING IN HOT: La Taqueria by Katsuji 🌮🔥🎉

Big news, foodies: Chef Katsuji Tanabe—yes, the Top Chef icon himself—is partnering with Anthony Rapillo, the main man behind V Pizza and Flask Cocktail Bar, to bring Mexico City style tacos and mezcal-based cocktails to Boxyard RTP. ✨

Both are partners in downtown Raleigh's Flour & Barrel Kitchen + Bar, so La Taqueria by Katsuji marks another local collaboration between two seasoned restaurateurs, blending Chef Tanabe's innovative culinary approach with Rapillo’s expertise in creating dynamic dining experiences.

Created as an authentic taco shop, La Taqueria boldly tackles the question, “Where can you find the best, most authentic Mexican tacos in the Triangle?”

The idea for this culinary gem sparked when Rapillo visited Chef Tanabe's home for lunch. There, he was introduced to the unique concept of the "Hot Tub of Meat"—a steaming choricero filled with lard, confit, secret spices and broth. Within this flavorful bath, chicken, chorizo and brisket marinate and slow-cook together, creating a deeply rich and complex broth that enhances each ingredient. It’s a method reminiscent of a gently simmered Chinese hot pot or Italian bollito misto.

The result? Flavorful, tender meat served on a handmade corn tortilla, topped with fresh and authentic garnishes like pickled red onions, chopped cilantro, fresh lime and a variety of homemade salsas. With a focus on simplicity and authenticity, La Taqueria by Katsuji is set to redefine your go-to taco experience when it opens next month.
